Serbian truck and bus maker Korporacija Fabrika Automobila Priboj (FAP) will produce 32 four-axle trucks worth a total of 2.3 million euro ($3.2 million) for the country’s army, local media reported on Tuesday.
The deal was signed on October 1 and the delivery of the trucks of the 1118 BSAV type is due in five months, B92 broadcaster quoted the FAP CEO, Mirko Stojovic, as saying.
“The truck prototypes have passed all quality and safety tests. For the tests, we have also prepared a new series of special purpose vehicles,” Stojovic said.
State-owned FAP (www.fap.co.rs) is based in Priboj, western Serbia. It was set up in 1952 and manufactures trucks and special purpose motor vehicles.
The company turned to a consolidated net loss of 61 million dinars ($791,674/574,843 euro) in 2009, from a 142.3 million dinar profit a year earlier, data from the country’s Business registry showed.
